Mikko's Rant

I don't know how exactly it happened, but the other night I found myself playing a real-time strategy game on the PC! Final proof that the army does your head in. Nevertheless, it's a good game and good value for the 10 EUR budget price, albeit too damn difficult for my taste.

It seems that it's a good time to buy DC and PSX games right now. Every other shop is clearing out their Dreamcast inventory and has nice discounts on PSX stuff as well. It's just so depressing to realise that there are way way too many PlayStation titles out there for anyone to afford :)

And while on the topic, I had a brief discussion about reasons for collecting video games the other day. While you may argue that it's utter lunacy to collect unarguably crap titles just for the sake of collection size, I've always had a somewhat different view of the
matter. In my opinion, even crap is worth preserving, if only for cultural reasons. 20 years from now, everyone will remember the Sonics, Grand Theft Autos and Ikarugas, but, say, Exhibition of Speed will hardly ring any bells. Nevertheless, several people contributed to
making that rather awful game, and even though the end result was less than astonishing it still was a product of the gaming culture, and deserves to be listed and mentioned.
